Paul James Williams

When I was a kid I loved to draw- purple crayon and all. I attended an atelier style art college, and completed my degree with a BFA from the University of Pennsylvania- so that I would know an original idea when I saw one. For a while I was the assistant gallery director for an international art dealer based in Philadelphia before I realized that I would rather make work than sell it. Since then I have become an expert in the indispensable tools of illustration- including Adobe software, Apple hardware, typography, HTML and CSS. My journey has brought me to New York City where I am a contract illustrator and teach the tools of creativity to people for Apple Computers.

  • Telepathic Cowguins of the North Pole <br> Watercolor <br> <br> This is a preliminary illustration for a fantasy children’s book. Cowguins live in a fictitious world where they are farmed and herded by men riding polar bears. In this scene these three have left their herd and have set out on their own for the first time.
  • In Memory of George Carlin <br> Gouache <br> <br> This caricature was created in memory of George Carlin- a great comedian whose humor has inspired me and shaped my thought process since I was a teenager.
